Ingredients
- mini marshmallows
- chocolate chips
- peanut butter
- butter
See recipe card for quantities.
Ingredient Notes
Chocolate chips: Use semi-sweet or bitter-sweet chocolate. I prefer to use a darker, more bitter-sweet chocolate, but feel free to use whatever chocolate you prefer.
Peanut butter: Use regular or natural creamy peanut butter. If you use natural peanut butter, make sure the peanut butter is well mixed and please note that the final squares will be less sweet.
Instructions
- Line an 8-inch square baking pan with wax or parchment paper. In a large, microwave-safe bowl, add the chocolate, peanut butter, and butter. Melt the chocolate, peanut butter, and butter in the microwave, using 20 second intervals, stirring between each. Generally, 60 to 80 seconds total is sufficient.
- Into the melted chocolate mixture, add the mini marshmallows and mix until all the marshmallows are well coated in the chocolate mixture.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, and using a spatula, evenly spread and pack the mixture into the plan.
- Chill for 1 hour to set, before slicing into small squares and serving.
Top Tips for Perfect Chocolate Confetti
- A clean slice: Use a sharp knife and clean your knife with a damp cloth between slices. If your squares start to melt while cutting, put back in the fridge to firm up before continuing.
- Make ahead: These are great squares to make ahead as they will keep in the fridge for a week or in the freezer for up to 2 months. Get ahead in your holiday baking by whipping up a batch of these and freezing.
Substitutions
Make it dairy free: You can easily make these squares diary free by ensuring the chocolate you use is dairy free and substituting the butter with a dairy-free butter or margarine alternative.
Storage
Store in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 1 week. Serve chilled.
Freezer friendly: These squares freeze really well. Freeze, well-wrapped, for 1 – 2 months. Thaw in the fridge before serving.
